We are proud to present the handmade, unique pieces made by the women of Ghorjomi Valley in Georgia.

Located in Adjara, Georgia, the people of the valley seek to preserve their ancient traditions. They have led nomadic lives for centuries. In the spring they reside in the highlands, only returning to the valley in the autumn, where they craft away.

Within the charming landscape of the valley, old customs and a true highland lifestyle are treasured. Ghorjomi Valley is the source of a particularly special craft - "Adjarian Nachrelebi" (Adjarian adornments - motifs unique to these women's handwork). The Ghorjomi Valley women, who, regardless of their hard daily lives, keep their unique craftsmanship alive, sharing it with one another; passing on the delicate traditions with love.

Every day, after finishing their chores in the house or field, they get back to the handicraft inherited from their ancestors, turning their diverse stories into embroidered and woven patterns. The individuality of "Adjarian Nachrelebi" is obtained through the variety of plants used in the dyeing. Each piece is distinguished by a special technique and the abundance of colours.

These beautiful tote bags all feature the Ghorjomi Valley's signature Adjarian adornments... each one is unique!

"Women will take seats by the wood stove with their needlework: spinning, weaving, rolling yarn, dyeing wool, knitting and embroidering without end. They create amazing combinations of colours; their work is a real feast for the eyes."
