Pippa Small For Afghanistan
We have had the pleasure of working with Pippa Small for many years now. All her jewellery is rooted in ethical practices, working with artisans and craftspeople from Myanmar, India and Afghanistan to name a few. We are proud to share Pippa's latest project.
Pippa’s partner and his colleagues in Kabul have set up a safe space for women from disadvantaged communities of internally displaced refugees who have been living in parks and camps for the last 9 months. They will have transport to the workshop where they will receive training from women only teachers from a charity foundation. There will be hot meals provided and the chance for the women to learn, creating new skills, gain confidence and empowerment and the opportunity for a new life with some financial independence and hope.
Pippa has created a special aquamarine necklace, of which 100% of the profits are supporting this project to pay for transport, food, material and teachers. Aquamarine is found in Nuristan in the north-east of the country, and rough crystals of the beautiful blue gem have been set in gold vermeil and strung on a gold coloured cord to create a personal amulet. The necklace will give hope to so many in Afghanistan and support this incredible project.
