When the warm days roll in, nothing is more apt than a lightweight cotton dress by Matta NY, a sustainable and ethical label founded by Cristina Gitti. We have adored the designs of Cristina Gitti for many a-season. Gitti specialises in handmade craft and design, taking inspiration from her global discoveries and travel in India and beyond.

The Yamini dress has been a core Matta style for many summers now embodying a re-envisioned interpretation of classic Indian textiles. The silhouette is a modified, wearable version of a traditional folk shape. It exudes a vintage vibe with a current, relevant edge. This totally sums up the ethos of Matta, designs that combine old-age techniques such as Indian block print with spirited colours and updates. 

A firm favourite returns, the booj blockprint comes in a palette of dreamy shades of teal blue, ash grey, shadow purple and rich garnet red...

 

The Yamini style is a shape that suits almost everyone. The cotton feels lightweight and soft without feeling flimsy. One would feel as comfortable wearing this on the beach as in the city.
