A Yaser Shaw cashmere shawl feels incredibly soft. This is because the fibers are from goats that live very high in the Himalayas. Their fur is only sheared once a year in the spring, meaning each hair is very long. The longer the hair that goes into spinning the yarn, the less pilling there will be because there are fewer ends in each length of yarn. Kashmiri cashmere sourced in this traditional way is limited in quantity and available only seasonally.
